Bolt Forge is an AI agent within the Bolt.new platform that allows individual Pro plan users to build AI-powered apps using open-source AI models. It offers up to 50X more usage on these models at no extra cost during its research preview period. Users can opt in to share de-identified build sessions to help train open-source AI models, partnered initially with Arcee AI. The agent supports multiple open models, runs projects in-browser via WebContainers, and aims to enable affordable and scalable AI app prototyping especially during the brainstorming and MVP phase.

I'm a developer and I try a lot of tools — bolt.new is one of the few that genuinely works out of the box. I used it to build several working mockups: not slides or static screens, but real, clickable apps I could hand to someone. Going from a prompt to something that actually runs, in the browser, with zero local setup, is the part that impressed me.

bolt.new runs the whole thing in the browser, so you go from prompt to a running app with no local setup at all. It installs npm packages, spins up the dev environment, and lets you deploy in a couple of clicks. For testing an idea fast it is hard to beat, you are looking at a live app in minutes instead of wiring up a project first. The in-browser environment is the standout, nothing to install, just build.

As the Founder & Chief Architect of Revenue Recovery Labs, speed and architectural integrity are my primary concerns. bolt.new is not just another AI wrapper; it is a sophisticated full-stack orchestrator that truly understands engineering workflows. What impressed me most is its implementation of WebContainer technology to handle Node.js runtimes directly in the browser. It allowed me to scaffold a production-ready Next.js (App Router) and Tailwind CSS architecture—complete with functional Supabase logic—in a single session. For a senior engineer, it’s the ultimate 'force multiplier' that automates the boilerplate and environment setup while maintaining a clean, scalable, and fully editable codebase.

"91% of Bolt's top paid model on their internal benchmark" is doing a lot of work in that sentence - internal benchmarks tend to be picked to flatter the new thing. Is there a public eval or a task set outsiders can rerun, or is 91% something we just have to take on faith for now?

Incredible work from the Bolt team. As far as I know, it's the first of the vibe-coding solutions to really go all in with open-source models, and I commend you!

Question for the makers—right now it handles full-stack in the browser tab really well, but what’s the vision for connecting to existing local microservices or private databases during the prototyping phase?
