Declutr is a Mac app that organizes your Desktop, Downloads, or any folder by sorting files into categorized folders by type (Documents, Images, Videos, Audio, Archives, Code & Scripts, 3D Models, etc.) with a single click. It supports undoing any cleanup, allows custom categories, and includes Smart Rules for automated sorting by name, extension, age, or size. The Pro version adds scheduled cleanups and watch folders to sort new files automatically. All file sorting happens locally on your Mac with no uploads or accounts required. It runs on macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon and Intel Macs, and is available free with an optional one-time $8.99 Pro upgrade.

I just tried out the app! It does exactly what it says. Its so useful for a messy person who wants to clean the messy download/any custom folder! Highly recommend it, cant wait for more updates!

App works great and helps me to sort/clean up my files. The configuration doesn't require much work and the app saves me a lot of time!

"rules not AI, never reads what's inside your files" is the right pitch for something touching your whole desktop, that's exactly the kind of tool I don't want guessing. question on the watched folders: if a browser is still writing a large download and Declutr's watcher fires early, does it wait for the file to finish or is there a risk of grabbing a half-downloaded file mid-move?
