jev-seo is a free, open-source command-line SEO and GEO audit toolkit written in Rust. It performs 58-rule audits on local and live sites, scores pages for AI citation readiness, tracks rank drift using SQLite, integrates with continuous integration as a gate, and exposes a 15-tool MCP interface for use by autonomous coding agents. It provides deterministic SEO evidence without subscription fees or dashboards, using DuckDuckGo search data for free and optional pay-as-you-go semantic scoring. It is designed for developers, indie hackers, and technical writers who want a privacy-respecting and cost-free SEO tool alternative.

For me the missing piece is pages that are supposed to die. I run a job board where a few thousand listings expire every week across 11 languages, and the audits that actually bit us were never meta tags. It was hreflang clusters pointing at a translation we had already noindexed, and closed listings that kept returning 200 with a "this job is closed" block, so they sat in the sitemap as thin pages for weeks. A robots check also happily told us GPTBot was allowed while our homepage only filled in its content after JS, so what the crawler really got was mostly an empty shell. When jev-seo checks what AI crawlers can see, does it fetch the raw HTML or render it, and could it diff the two?

the "no subscription for the deterministic checks" framing is honest and rare - most tools in this space bundle the boring crawl/schema/robots stuff with the paid layer just because they can. one thing I didn't see addressed: does it handle sites that are behind basic auth or still on a staging subdomain? that's usually exactly when a team wants an SEO/AI-crawler audit, before the site is public, and most hosted auditors can't touch it since they need a public URL to craw
