Latch is a mobile app for iPhone and Android that blocks distracting apps by requiring users to scan an NFC sticker, printed QR code, or walk a preset number of steps to unlock them. It encourages mindful phone use by putting the unlock mechanism physically away, helping reduce phone addiction without subscriptions or ads. Using a number of steps as the key is a clever option for when you don't want to stick anything on the fridge. If I pick steps, do steps I already walked earlier in the day count, or only the ones taken after I try to open a blocked app?
