Off the Record
Off the Record is a macOS app that reshapes your voice in real time to prevent AI-based transcription in online meetings and calls. It works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and any app using your mic, letting people hear you clearly while making speech-to-text engines unable to generate usable transcripts. Voice processing happens locally on your device, ensuring privacy with no data sent to any cloud service. It also helps prevent hidden AI copilots from transcribing and generating suggested answers during interviews.

I like the privacy angle here because people should know when their conversations are being captured by AI. How much does the voice change in real time?

Interesting. Definitely a real problem that will become bigger in the future I think. Which transcription models has it been tested against? Does it only work with the smaller real-time models or does it continue to work with larger offline non-streaming transcription models?

This is gonna be so useful! Literally every meeting I go to there's an AI notetaker or transcriber there without my consent

the "hidden interview copilots" line in the description is the part that'll follow this product around. blocking an AI notetaker you didn't consent to in a regular meeting is a clean privacy case, but defeating detection of an interview copilot reads as the opposite kind of use, helping someone misrepresent who's actually answering. are those two use cases actually separable in how the product works, or is it the same voice-reshaping trick aimed at whichever listener you want to defeat
