Imported videos appearing directly in System Settings > Wallpaper is the important bit. Going through the OS wallpaper path means lock screen playback, per-display selection, and pause behavior can follow macOS instead of acting like a floating window. I'd want the private framework risk called out clearly on each release.

Phosphene is a macOS menu bar application and wallpaper extension that enables users to set any video as their desktop or lock screen wallpaper through the system wallpaper picker. It supports smooth, gapless looping, multi-display setups, power-aware playback, and integrates natively with macOS using Apple's private WallpaperExtensionKit framework to provide real video playback rather than a floating window.
