"earned, never bought, never retroactive" is a good rule to hold yourself to, stops it turning into a vanity dashboard. the part I'm curious about is the bad months though - if churn is getting someone a "send-off" and new subscribers get applause, what does a genuinely quiet week look like in the office? does it just sit still, or is there a version of this that risks making a slow month feel worse than the raw number already does, which would push founders toward avoiding the Daily Brief exactly when they need to see it most.
