Smart Mouth Billy Bass is a DIY project that transforms a 1999 Big Mouth Billy Bass toy into a local, networked AI assistant using an ESP32-S3 microcontroller and backend AI services running on a homelab server. It integrates speech-to-text, a language model, and text-to-speech to enable the fish to respond to voice input with witty jokes and interactions, all without internet dependency and with low latency.
