Tailgate
Tailgate is an open-source overlay network that enables users to run the official Tailscale clients against their own self-hosted Headscale coordination server and DERP relays. It provides private HTTPS, a management console to control device access to services, and starts with a deny-all policy to enforce strict access control. Tailgate is free and open source software but requires user-maintained infrastructure such as VMs and relays, making it a self-hosted alternative to Tailscale’s hosted service.
